Sharmaji Namkeen: Ranbir Kapoor Recalls Dad Rishi Kapoor Drove The Family 'Mad' When He Didn't Have Work: 'My Mother Used To Force Him To Go To RK Studios'
Rishi Kapoor was one of the finest actors in Hindi Cinema who was known for his prolific work. His presence on the screen was enough to expect a lot from the film. He was one of those actors who didn’t have to try to get noticed on the screen. With time, he adapted himself to the changing pattern of Bollywood and delivered some impactful roles in his career. Rishi Kapoor’s last project was ‘ Sharmaji Namkeen’ and Ranbir Kapoor has been promoting the film on several grounds. Recently, the actor recalled the time when his father didn't have any work.

Rishi Kapoor left for his heavenly abode on April 30, 2020, and not many know that he was shooting for his last flick which was left incomplete after his demise. During the film promotion, while speaking to Film Companion, Ranbir Kapoor talked about his late father’s transition from a protagonist to a character actor. The ‘Barfi’ actor said, “those three-four years I remember - he used to be just in front of the computer playing bridge. My mother got frustrated because she never saw him home for so long. And he used to drive her mad. My mother used to force him to go to RK Studios and just sit there”.

Adding further, Ranbir said during his free time for a while, his father became an interior designer. He was quoted saying, “He started changing different spaces in our house. He started shopping for things. He started doing things just trying to keep himself busy. But he realized that work was in his spirit and he really wanted to work." Seeing Rishi Kapoor sit at home for so long not only left Neetu Kapoor frustrated, but Ranbir and his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni were also annoyed. Elaborating further, Ranbir recalled and said "My mother, myself, and my sister, we were also being driven a little mad because he is also very demanding of your attention. So, we were all hoping and praying that it’s great that we are getting to spend this awesome time with him but a balanced way would have been nicer. Because this is getting way too much."

‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ is directed by Hitesh Bhatia which also stars Juhi Chawla, Satish Kaushik and Suhail Nayyar in key roles.
